What to take with you when attending underwater diving lessons

Diving is an exciting activity, but it also comes with general water risks. Therefore, it is important to follow the instructions and safety rules to ensure safety, both during preparation and underwater. Daivings.lv is one of the diving clubs in the Baltic States that offers various PADI scuba diving courses and international diver certifications for PADI divers.

  • Comprehensive scuba diving courses include theoretical and practical training where you will learn about scuba diving, physics, physiology, the environment and technical equipment.

1. Diving equipment

Underwater diving lessons will require special equipment. Diving equipment will be given when attending water sessions, PADI Open Water Diver in courses. This includes:

  • Diving mask: To see under water.
  • Diving tube: To breathe while on the surface of the water.
  • Fins: To swim faster and with less effort.
  • Diving suit: To keep warm underwater.
  • Swimming trunks/swimsuit: To wear under a diving wetsuit.
  • Towel: To wipe off after class.
  • Water bottle: To maintain the correct level of water in the body, hydration.
  • Snacks: To maintain energy levels in the body.

2. Personal belongings

You should also bring some personal belongings, such as:

  • Swimming trunks/swimsuit: You will need a bathing suit to wear under your wetsuit.
  • Towel: You will need a towel to dry off after class.
  • Water bottle and snacks: Diving can be physically demanding, so it's important to maintain proper hydration and energy levels.

3. Documents

Depending on the regulations of the diving center, you may need to bring some documents with you, such as:

  • Identification documents: Some centers may ask for identification documents.
  • Health questionnaires: Some centers may ask you to fill out a health questionnaire before the class.

  1. How can you effectively overcome fear and nervousness before your first diving adventure?
    • Answer: Before the start of swimming, deep breathing, positive visualization and the support of an experienced instructor help to effectively overcome fear and nervousness.
  2. How do I choose the right diving equipment and how does it fit my body shape and needs?
    • Answer: Prior to selection, the instructor will provide a detailed guide to equipment selection and proper clothing, taking into account individual body characteristics and diving needs.
  3. What are the basic safety procedures underwater and how can I keep myself and others safe?
    • Answer: Basic safety procedures include proper use of signals, use of equipment, and regular inspections to ensure the safety of both yourself and others underwater.
  4. Is there anything I can do to improve my buoyancy and movements underwater?
    • Answer: Regular scuba diving and practicing proper diving movements, along with instruction from an instructor, will help improve your buoyancy and underwater movements.
  5. How do I continue my diving education and gain additional skills after completing the basic course?
    • Answer: After the basic course, there are many opportunities to acquire additional skills and education including participation in specialized courses, PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or PADI Rescue Diver, obtaining additional certificates and cooperation with experienced divers.
