Diving in Lake Pinku, September 23. When planning the diving of Pinku (Pinķi by place) lake, it must be taken into account that the lake is a protected nature park and is a specially protected nature territory in Ēdole parish of Kuldīga region. The average depth of Lake Pinki is 5.0 meters, but the maximum depth is 20.0 meters, which we also reached in our expedition. Lake Pinku is home to various fish, such as bream, stonecrop, perch, crucian carp, pike, tench, roach, as well as redfish and eels.
Thanks to the initiative of the active diver Uģis, it was decided to look at Lake Pinku, study the diving conditions and find the deepest place, which is located at a depth of 20.0 meters. Uģis called the guest house, which is next to the source to Kauliņa, and received permission to park cars in the territory of the guest house.
The members of our diving group are active divers, and a good company came together that wanted to dive into the depths of Lake Pinku.
About diving and water temperature in Lake Latvia Pinku
There is a convenient access to the shore of the lake, entrance to the water is possible from the shore. Diving in the lake is suitable for both beginners (With Open Water Diver qualifications) and advanced divers (Advanced Open Water Diver, Deep Diver, Tec Diver). Diving was useful for divers diving in the lake Dry Suit, Night Diver, Underwater Navigation Diver Certificate Learned.
The lake is clear, the visibility in the water is from 2-3 meters. We studied that at a depth of 20 meters with an underwater light can be seen at a distance of ~ 3 meters. Diving deeper than 8.0 meters into Lake Pinki is possible only with an underwater light, because daylight disappears when walking at greater depths.
It should be noted that in September the temperature in the depths of the lake is low, at a depth of 10.0 meters it is 14 degrees, at a depth of 20.0 meters it is only 5 degrees, although the water at the top of the lake was warmed to 18 degrees.
Pinku lake diving place
Our plan was to explore the deepest part of the lake, as well as to explore the objects underwater in the directions to the right and left of the entrance to the lake. The bottom of the lake is easy to lift and muddy when touched, so it is easy to lose visibility.
When diving from the shore you can easily dive to a depth of 20 meters, the deepest place can be reached within 20 minutes by walking from the shore. The lake is well suited for recreational diving and is a good place to do recreational diving in Latvia.
