The plane sank in the lake

In a deep lake, it was damaged during the Second World War, a German plane crashed into the lake and sank. German aviation aircraft Focke Wulf fell into the lake ( Lake Bourget), In France. The plane is located at a depth of 110 meters and is available for viewing by everyone, but to do this you need to be a specially trained underwater diver, diving with a rebreather.

  • Eyewitness, if you know information about historical places, send information... If the information about the equipment - tank, plane, truck under water, is confirmed, the diving club "Divings" will give you diving training for the whole family (4 people) worth 1600Eur. WhatsApp 220-77-202.

During the last war, airplanes have also fallen several times in Latvian lakes. Several planes have already been recovered from various Latvian lakes and swamps. Mostly finds remnants of war aviation equipment, which are left from a high-speed falling aircraft and were crashed into the ground and mud, up to 8 meters deep. Various folded parts of airplanes are found, sometimes also the remains of the pilot, which can only be identified with great effort. We have also received several stories about the aviation equipment in Lakes Zebrus and Ušura. Similar remnants of war aviation equipment are probably located there - the wreckage of Soviet Army aircraft, which could be viewed by underwater divers.

Planes have also crashed in the Baltic Sea

In 2004, the Swedish Navy recovered the Cold War-era Swedish reconnaissance aircraft DC-3 from the bottom of the Baltic Sea, 125 meters deep, which was shot down by a Soviet fighter jet 52 years ago. As experts have announced, the remains of the crew members were also found in the wreck.

The plane with a crew of eight disappeared on June 13, 1952, and for many years nothing was known about its fate. Rescuers found only an unused life jacket at the time, raising concerns that the crew had escaped from the plane but been taken prisoner, but Russia denied it.

An automatic mini-submarine found the pilot's remains at the time, but the bones of other crew members were also found during the rescue operation. Sweden, which officially maintained neutrality during the Cold War but cooperated with NATO, protested against the shooting down of DC-3, announcing that the plane had conducted a peaceful training flight. It later emerged that the warplane was equipped with state-of-the-art British intelligence and had collected information for Britain and the United States about the new USSR radar stations.

Restoration of warplanes

There are also civil aviation restorers in Latvia - those who are being restored by military aviation equipment, we will probably write about it in the near future.
