On July 15, 1944, in front of the city of Pavilosta, the cargo ships "Hochsee" and "Tauroggen" were discovered by a pair of torpedo bombers of the Red Army A20G Boston under the command of Captain Safronov and Lieutenant NF Vasiliev of the 51st Mine and Torpedo Regiment. The ship was torpedoed by two torpedoes, one of which hit the center of the ship. The damaged vessel remained afloat, and the Tauroggen tied the Hochsee to the tow, but did not manage to reach port together. 4 sailors went missing during the explosion.
