Located underwater in the Baltic Sea off the island of Hiiumaa

Our colleagues, Estonian divers west of Hiiumaa, have found a submarine hull that probably belongs to the submarine of the Russian Empire, which disappeared in November 1915. Akula.Zemudene-Baltic-Sea

Until now, there were several versions of the disappearance of the submarine - that it had gone to the Latvian-Lithuanian border near Liepaja to install mines, presumably in the depth of the periscope, and ran into the mine. According to another version, its storm overturned and sank.

The bow of the found submarine was destroyed by an explosion, confirming that it had exploded on a mine. Divers do not intend to enter the submarine, as it is very narrow, and the grave of 35 sailors. Also above the water, it is unlikely to be highlighted as it could collapse.

The submarine was built in 1906-1911 in Kronstadt, was 56 meters long and was the only submarine of its type. Unlike other submarines of the time, which had two torpedoes, Akula was armed with eight. It took part in three battles, but none of its torpedo attacks were successful.
