The DEMA Show 2025 exhibition opened an exciting view of the future of diving sports, find out what to buy. This year, the focus was on three pillars: ergonomics and weight reduction of equipment, smart electronic systems with GPS capabilities and, what is especially welcome, the ever-increasing ecological responsibility in the choice of materials. From compact gas analyzers to breathable dry suits and even underwater internet - here are the most striking news that will soon appear underwater around the world.
1. Portability and New Buoyancy Compensator (BCD)
ScubaPro Hydros 2 BCD: One of the most popular BCD systems, the Hydros, has a successor. The new Hydros 2 is approximately 10% lighter and is made of a quick-drying material that hardly absorbs water, making it easier to travel with. The biggest changes have affected the weight system - it is now a monorail system, where the pocket is inserted with three clicks, ensuring maximum security and ease of use. ScubaPro continues to offer other innovations, including new regulator sets and the popular C-Wing Supernova fins.

Dive Rite Nomad Mini: For technical diving enthusiasts, D-Right introduced the Nomad Mini, a compact sidemount system specifically designed for aluminum cylinders and warm water cave or narrow passage diving. It provides clean buoyancy control with 11 kg (25 lbs) of lift capacity while maintaining the trusted platform of the Nomad series.

2. Technologies for Gas Management
Halcyon Compact Gas Analyzer: Halcyon has made gas analysis easy and convenient for travel. Their new analyzer is compact and features a standard galvanic O2 sensor, as well as a unique, wearable ultrasonic helium sensor and CO2 sensor. The analyzer connects directly to the app as part of the Sympio ecosystem, allowing users to configure, record mixes and wirelessly transfer data to Sympio dive computers. It can also connect wirelessly to a printer to print waterproof labels for cylinders.

3. Depth Computers and Navigation
Suunto Nautic and Suunto Nautic S: Suunto has introduced two new computers. The Nordic is a large-screen model with a bright AM OLED display designed for both recreational and technical diving with multiple gases. It has a powerful built-in dive planner, GPS routing and tracking, and a remarkable battery life of around 120 hours in dive mode. The Nordic S is a smaller, more affordable version with the same diving features, but without the sports and outdoor modes.

Gin X-series Computers: Gin offers the X50i and X30 models. They are large format, easy to read computers with simple navigation. Both have GPS functionality for marking entry and exit points, but the X50i also has maps for navigating to the dive site and Subway Air Integration. The X50i can also be paired with the new S1 surface marker buoy, which displays distance and direction, allowing you to track the buoy underwater.
4. Connectivity and GPS Underwater
Shearwater Swift GPS Transmitter: The popular Shearwater Swift air integration transmitter has received a major upgrade. In addition to sending gas pressure, it now also adds your location data. This means that any Shearwater computer with transmitter functionality is now able to record entry and exit points, and users don’t have to buy a new computer to get this functionality. This will be supported in the new “Dive Shearwater” app.
Dive Volk/Sealink Underwater Internet: The concept, which is now ready for the market, is the “Sealink” underwater smartphone data transmitter. The system consists of an antenna that floats on the surface and connects to the internet, and a cable that carries the data to the DVL body. It even allows you to transmit live video underwater using a face mask with a microphone.

5. Environmental Responsibility and Clothing
Fourth Element Xenox Eco-Wetsuit: The new Xenox wetsuit from Fourth Element is made from 82% bio-based rubber, derived from sustainably grown trees, mixed with recycled car tires and even seafood waste. The lining of the suit is made from recycled polyester (from plastic bottles) and bonded with a water-based adhesive. The main thing is that this does not reduce performance - the suit is flexible, warm and rivals traditional neoprene, and costs the same.

XD Gore-Tex Drysuit: XD has released a drysuit made from breathable Gore-Tex material. This suit is lightweight, durable and waterproof, but most importantly, breathable. It is a real “game changer” for divers who equip themselves in hot environments and spend a lot of time on the surface. The suit is completely custom-made, adapting to individual sizes.
6. Other Innovations and Accessories
Mares Planet 88X Regulator: Mares has introduced its best breathing regulator, the Planet 88X system. It replaces the traditional mechanical spring with an inertial valve that ensures natural and easy breathing.
SEAC Anti-Fog Mask: SEAC showcased a mask that could solve the fogging problem once and for all. The glass is treated with a double plasma anti-fog treatment that shouldn't wear off. The mask on display didn't fog up even with a spray gun, unlike traditional masks.
Waterproof Flex Lock System: Waterproof has surprised us with the Flex Lock ring system. It is a soft, flexible ring that allows you to replace standard silicone hand seals with the dry glove system in minutes and without tools.

Conclusion
DEMA Show 2025 clearly demonstrated that the diving industry is moving forward at a rapid pace. We are seeing smarter, lighter and, most importantly, more environmentally friendly equipment. These innovations are making diving safer, more comfortable and more accessible for both hobby and technical divers, while reducing our impact on the ocean. The future is bright and full of potential.
