Diver's dive site warning flag Alpha for use on ships/boats

Flag Alpha indicates that a diver works behind the ship. This means that other vessels must exercise caution and stay clear of the dive site. The flag means: “I have a diver working overboard. Stay away from me, walk slowly.

In the sea flag Alpha (English: Alpha flag) denoted by the letter “A” in the International Maritime Signal Code (ICS). This flag has a rectangular shape and is divided into two equal parts - the left part is white and the right part is blue with a triangular notch.

According to the International Code of Signals, Alpha flag is used to announce the for divers underwater. More precisely, the blue and white flag indicates the presence of divers. In open waters, a minimum distance is recommended 90 meters away from the ship that lifts it and reduce speed. It also emphasizes that the vessel in question has reduced maneuverability.

  • Disturbances for diving: Noise and waves generated by vessels can interfere with divers' work, making visibility difficult and creating dangerous situations.
