A sunken Soviet-era submarine has been found in Estonian territorial waters in the Gulf of Riga near Roņu Island and surveyed by scuba divers. In addition, the interesting object was found thanks to complaints from local fishermen about network jams, newsru.com reports.
Upon examination of the indicated location, the sonor showed a large metallic object. Divers, on the other hand, managed to confirm that they are Soviet-era underwater remains.
Estonian archaeologist Vello Maas, who also found the Russian ship "Nāriņa", which sank in 1893 a few years ago, claims that a Soviet submarine of the "Ščuka" class was found, which sank in 1958 during training and was used for training underwater works. There is no official confirmation yet.
The submarine was found about four kilometers east of Roņu Island. The length of the ship is about 55-60 meters. Although the underwater visibility in this place is not very good, divers also managed to film the find, watch the video.
