Underwater diving mask Cressi Zeus, which does not sweat and improves visibility

Cressi Zeus diving mask that is part of Cressi Atelier products to be sold at a Cressi Authorized Dive Center “Diving.lv” is a diving mask from an Italian company that manufactures its products in its own factories to provide the 100% Made in Italy solution.

The Cressi Zeus mask's patented anti-sweat system features a soft, thin silicone membrane with a rolled edge along both sides of the nose pocket to direct exhaled moisture away from the lenses. This helped it score the highest in the anti-sweat mask category.

Diving mask housing

Unlike many diving masks tested at the Diving Center, the Cressi Zeus is a perfect fit for people whose face shape is difficult to find the right mask for. The mask has a design that easily adapted to the face, which technically combines 3 different elements: the chassis, the face and the lenses. The components of the diving mask allow it to be assembled and reduce the dimensions to a minimum thickness, while also improving the internal volume, visibility and fit of the mask.

Diving mask lenses

The lenses are wide (57.3 x 70.5 mm at the widest and highest points) for the best visibility. Thanks to the larger lenses, the Cressi Zeus immediately appears as the big sister of the Cressi Calibro and Cressi Calibro+ diving masks. The Zeus provides an even better field of view compared to the Calibro, but also a larger internal volume. For medium depth diving (0-15 meters) and underwater hunting, the field of view is definitely the key compared to the internal volume, so the Cressi Zeus could be a highly recommended choice.

As for the Cressi Calibro and Nano masks, the Cressi Zeus has larger lenses (Big Eyes system) to further increase visibility below and to the side. The lens is actually tilted down 17° for a better view.

In fact, it is true that the javelin tends to have a view that points downwards by a few degrees, rather than being completely horizontal. Tilted lenses assist in the search phase consistently by looking at the seabed moving towards the surface. The lens is also available in a mirror version. The purpose of such a solution is to make the contours of the image clearer.

The enhanced visibility solution worked in well-lit areas, meaning that the enhanced visibility effect worked on sunny days and diving up to 15 meters. The design of the Cressi Zeus mask has a detachable and removable lens from the body.

Mask design

The edges of the Zeus mask are designed with the use of special form-fitting crimped firmness edges to adjust the firmness of different areas. Such corrugated edges are located on the sides, four on the inner part and thicker on the outer part of the face and inside the forehead. The silicone is matte on the outside, for design reasons, it only has a few polished areas.

An important plus is the anti-sweat system, the inner profile of the face, which directs the hot exhaled air away from the lenses, thus reducing the fog that forms on the lenses. The face of the Cressi Zeus has large vertical and horizontal dimensions (11.8 x 10.1 mm), which should make it feel more comfortable on the face, but of course might be less tailored for women.

Buckle and mask body attachment

The diving mask buckle is connected to the side strap adjustment system with two triangles made of hard rubber and integrated into the chassis using a unique Cressi solution. Such a connection between the rear bar and the chassis allows for a flexible connection to the chassis. In this way, two results are obtained: the first is to avoid the direct connection of the buckle to the face, a situation that tends to deform the latter and determine the ingress of water into the mask, the second is to soften the connection of the whole structure. dragging on a chassis that doesn't deform as it would with a more rigid solution, a situation that would again lead to water entering the mask. Finally, the harder rubber is definitely more resistant to wear and tear compared to face silicone, which often breaks when used as a buckle connection.

Internal volume of the mask

A standard dummy head was used to ensure independent measurement of the internal volume of the mask. The test was performed as usual by tightening the back band of the mask, also because in the sea test there was no contact between the eyelashes and the lenses, so there was no restriction on tightening the mask on the face. When performing two measurements, the average value of the internal volume is 156 ml.

Conclusions

As expected, Cressi Zeus has an amazing field of vision, probably designed for scuba diving, the new Cressi mask has high potential for underwater hunting in shallow to medium deep water where you need to see as much as possible in all directions. Obviously, the large lenses define a large internal volume, which will be a big challenge for deep diving in the case of freediving or apnea, at depths with breath holding above 15 meters. The weight of the mask is 175 grams, which is slightly higher than simpler masks, but the benefits outweigh them. The enhancements, integrated Dual Frame technology and anti-fog position the Cressi Zeus among the top-tier professional masks.
