Ice diving is a team effort, with each participant playing a role. Under the guidance of our certified instructors, you will learn not only to be safe under the ice, but also to enjoy this surreal environment.

What will you learn?

During the course, we focus on safety and following precise procedures:

  • Preparation: How to choose a suitable place and cut out abalone (in the shape of a triangle!).

  • Special equipment: Use of cold water regulators, safety rope systems and signals.

  • Teamwork: Communication between diver, safety diver and rope keeper (tender).

  • Emergency situations: What to do if the controller freezes or you have problems with orientation.

Requirements for candidates

To start this course, you need:

  1. PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) certificate.

  2. At least 18 years old age.

  3. Previous experience in diving with Dry Suit – this is critically important for your well-being and safety.

Important: Ice diving is weather dependent. The course usually takes place in January or February, when the ice is thick enough for safe training.
