PADI Deep Diver course Daivings.lv: Discover the secrets of the depths safely and confidently (eLearning Deep Diver)

Go deeper and expand your diving horizons with the PADI Deep Diver specialization course! Daivings.lv offers the opportunity to learn deep-sea diving skills that will allow you to safely explore exciting places beyond the depths learned in the Open Water Diver and Advanced Open Water Diver courses. The course combines PADI eLearning® theoretical training in English (or Russian) with practical diving lessons in the most suitable bodies of water in Latvia, led by experienced Latvian instructors.

Why dive deeper?

Many interesting dive sites – sunken ships, unique rock formations or specific marine life – are often found at depths of 18 to 40 meters. The PADI Deep Diver course provides the knowledge and skills to:

• To safely plan and execute dives to a depth of 40 meters: This is the maximum depth for recreational diving in the PADI system.
• Understand and manage depth-related risks: Including the risk of nitrogen narcosis and decompression sickness.
• Effective use of specialized equipment: For example, dive computers, additional air sources.
• To experience new feelings and see what lies deeper: Discover new underwater landscapes and maybe even meet different underwater fauna.

Course structure Daivings.lv:

The PADI Deep Diver course is carefully designed to ensure your safety and comfort while learning the specifics of deep-sea diving.

1. Theoretical training – PADI eLearning® Deep Diver (in English or Russian):

   • Learn at your own convenience: PADI's interactive online platform allows you to learn theory anywhere and at a time that suits you, using a computer or mobile device. Materials are available in English or Russian.
   • Comprehensive content: The eLearning program covers:
     • Reasons for deep-sea diving and related considerations: Why do we dive deep and what are the differences compared to shallower waters?
     • Planning a deep-sea dive: Including air consumption calculations, use of dive computers and tables for deep water diving, importance of the buddy system.
     • Specialized equipment for deep-sea diving: Additional air sources (e.g. pony balloon or sidemount configuration), descent/ascent lines, beacons, etc.
     • Nitrogen narcosis: Its signs, effects on the diver, and how to manage it.
     • Decompression sickness: Understanding its causes, symptoms, prevention, and first aid.
     • Safety stop and emergency decompression procedures: How to properly perform a safety stop and what to do in unexpected situations.
     • Color and light changes with depth.
     • Flying after diving and high-altitude diving considerations.
   • Important: Although the eLearning theory is in English or Russian, Daivings.lv instructors will provide the necessary consultations, answer questions, and help you consolidate your knowledge in Latvian during face-to-face classes.

2. Practical training (in person) – at least 3 open water dives:

   • Choosing diving sites: Daivings.lv instructors will select suitable and safe diving sites in Latvia that allow you to reach the required depth for training (for example, deeper lakes like Plauži Lake, or specific sites in the Baltic Sea, if conditions permit and they are suitable for the course goals).
   • First dive (18-24 meters):
     • Equipment configuration checking and adjustment for deep-sea diving.
     • Controlled descent, buoyancy control exercises at depth.
     • Observing color changes at depth.
     • Navigation exercises.
   • Second dive (24-30 meters):
     • Monitoring and managing signs of nitrogen narcosis (e.g., when performing simple tasks).
     • Air consumption monitoring and air management techniques.
     • Practicing safety stop procedures.
   • Third and (optional) fourth dive (up to 40 meters, but not deeper than the limits of the diver's previous certification, unless 30m has been reached):
     • Advanced dive planning and execution.
     • Simulations of emergency procedures (e.g. air supply failure using an alternative air source).
     • Improving descent and ascent techniques using a support rope.
     • Observation of the effects of pressure on objects.
   • Instructor guidance and safety: During all dives, a Daivings.lv instructor will be by your side, ensuring your safety, providing instructions, assessing skills, and sharing experiences. All practical training and communication takes place in your preferred language.

Requirements for candidates:

• PADI Adventure Diver certification (or equivalent from another organization) with a completed Deep Adventure Dive, OR PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent).
• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Good health for diving (if in doubt, consult a doctor and submit a medical certificate).
