Description
PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver course Daivings.lv: Dive longer, feel better! (eLearning Enriched Air Diver)
Extend your time underwater and reduce post-dive fatigue with the PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver specialization course! Daivings.lv offers to learn enriched air diving (nitrox), combining PADI eLearning® theoretical training in English (or Russian) with practical lessons and consultations in Latvia, led by experienced PADI instructors.
What is enriched air (Nitrox) and why use it?
Enriched air, often called "nitrox" or EANx, is a diving breathing mixture that has a higher oxygen content and a lower nitrogen content than regular air (which contains approximately 211 parts per million oxygen and 791 parts per million nitrogen). The most commonly used nitrox mixtures are those with 321 parts per million (EANx32) or 361 parts per million (EANx36) oxygen.
The main advantages of diving with nitrox:
- Longer no-decompression time: Because you breathe in less nitrogen, it builds up in your body's tissues more slowly. This means you can stay at a given depth for longer without worrying about the risk of decompression sickness (as long as you follow the instructions on your dive computer and tables). This is especially true for repeat dives.
- Shorter surface intervals: Less nitrogen buildup allows you to prepare for your next dive faster.
- Reduced fatigue: Many divers note that they feel less fatigue after diving with nitrox compared to diving with regular air, especially after multiple dives in a day or on multi-day dive tours.
- Greater safety (under certain conditions): When diving with nitrox, but within the limits of your air dive computer, you dive with an additional safety margin regarding decompression sickness.
Course structure Daivings.lv:
Our Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver course is designed to help you safely and confidently acquire all the necessary knowledge and skills for diving with enriched air.
-
Theoretical training – PADI eLearning® Enriched Air Diver (in English or Russian):
- Learn at your own convenience: PADI's interactive online platform allows you to learn theory anywhere and at a time that suits you. Materials are available in English or Russian.
- Comprehensive content: The eLearning program covers:
- Benefits and risks of enriched air.
- The effect of oxygen on the body, the concept of oxygen toxicity and how to avoid it (maximum operational depth – MOD, oxygen exposure limits).
- Equipment requirements for diving with nitrox (specially marked cylinders, need for oxygen-compatible materials in certain cases).
- Enriched air balloon analysis procedures (how to determine the percentage of oxygen in a balloon).
- Planning dives with nitrox using dive computers and/or special tables.
- Procedures for purchasing enriched air at diving centers.
- Important: Although the eLearning theory is in English or Russian, Daivings.lv instructors will provide the necessary consultations, answer questions, and help you consolidate your knowledge in Latvian during the in-person session.
-
Practical application session:
- Consultations and knowledge testing: After completing the eLearning, you will meet with a Daivings.lv instructor to discuss the material you have learned, ask questions, and check your understanding.
- Enriched air analysis: Under the guidance of an instructor, you will learn how to analyze the oxygen content in a diving tank using an oxygen analyzer. This is a critical skill for every nitrox diver.
- Planning a dive with nitrox: Together with your instructor, you will plan your enriched air dives using a dive computer set to nitrox mode or appropriate tables.
- Equipment inspection: Discuss specific equipment requirements and markings.
- (Optional) Two enriched air dives: Although the PADI Enriched Air Diver course does not require mandatory dives to obtain a certificate (if practical skills are learned on land), Daivings.lv recommends and offers the opportunity to do two dives with nitrox under the guidance of an instructor to consolidate knowledge and experience the benefits of nitrox in practice. These dives can be combined with dives from other courses or done separately.
Requirements for candidates:
- PADI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent from another organization).
- Must be at least 12 years old.
- Good health is recommended for diving (if in doubt, consult a doctor).
What will you gain by completing the PADI Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver course at Daivings.lv?
- The internationally recognized PADI Enriched Air Diver specialization certificate – the world's most popular PADI specialization course.
- Knowledge and skills to safely plan and conduct dives with enriched air (nitrox mixtures up to 40% oxygen).
- Ability to analyze the oxygen content in diving cylinders.
- The ability to extend your no-decompression time and reduce surface intervals between dives.
- Potentially less fatigue after diving.
- More options on dive trips, as many liveaboard ships and dive resorts offer nitrox dives as standard or for a small additional fee.
- This specialization counts towards the prestigious PADI Master Scuba Diver qualification.
