Course structure Daivings.lv:
The PADI Search and Recovery Diver course is practically oriented and provides comprehensive training to become a competent search and recovery diver.

Theoretical training – PADI eLearning® Search and Recovery Diver (in English or Russian):
- Learn at your own convenience: PADI's interactive online platform allows you to learn theory anywhere and at a time that suits you, using a computer or mobile device. Materials are available in English or Russian.
- Comprehensive content: The eLearning program covers:
- Planning and organization of search and rescue operations: Risk assessment, team role allocation, determination of necessary equipment, safety procedures.
- Search methods: Learning different search patterns (e.g. spiral, square, U-shaped, compass-line) and applying them depending on the conditions (visibility, bottom relief, object size).
- Locating lost objects: Techniques and tips for effectively finding objects of different sizes.
- Highlighting techniques: Safe lifting of objects of various sizes and weights using simple and more complex techniques.
- Using lift bags: Operating principles of different types of lifting bags, calculations for filling them, and safe usage techniques.
- Tying knots underwater: Learning and practical application of the most important knots (e.g. loops, figure-of-eight knot, anchor knot) for securing objects.
- Potential dangers and how to avoid them.
- Important: Although the eLearning theory is in English or Russian, Daivings.lv instructors will provide the necessary consultations, answer questions, and help you consolidate your knowledge in Latvian during face-to-face classes.

Practical training (in person, in Latvian) – at least 4 open water dives:
- Choosing diving sites: Daivings.lv instructors will select suitable diving sites in Latvia (for example, lakes or quarries with different bottom structure and visibility, where it is possible to safely practice search and recovery tasks).
- First and second dive:
- Practicing different search schemes in limited visibility and under different conditions.
- Finding lost small and medium-sized objects.
- Tying the most important knots underwater.
- Improving teamwork and communication.
- Third and fourth dives:
- Planning and conducting more complex search operations.
- Finding and lifting larger objects (simulated or real, depending on conditions and safety) using lifting bags.
- Learning precise techniques for filling and guiding a lifting bag.
- Playing out different highlighting scenarios.
- Instructor guidance and feedback: During all dives, a Daivings.lv instructor will guide the process, demonstrate techniques, monitor safety, and provide constructive feedback so you can improve your skills. All practical training and communication takes place in your preferred language.
Requirements for candidates:
- PADI (Junior) Advanced Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent from another organization) OR PADI (Junior) Open Water Diver certification with PADI Underwater Navigator specialization certification.
- Must be at least 12 years old.
- Good health for diving (if in doubt, consult a doctor and submit a medical certificate).
