Listen to &quot;click&quot;<\/strong><br \/>\nBefore getting dressed in a diving suit or boarding boat, make sure you hear a &quot;click&quot; or a &quot;pop&quot; in both ears when swallowed. The sound means both ears <strong>Eustachian channels<\/strong> (<em>eng.Eustachian tube<\/em>) are open.<\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><strong>2. Start on time<\/strong><br \/>\nSeveral hours before diving, start gently flattening your ears every few minutes. &quot;It is of great value and is believed to help reduce the chances of blocking at the start of a descent,&quot; says Dr Ernest S. Campbell. &quot;Chewing and chewing gum have been shown to help between dives,&quot;<\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><strong>3. Straighten your ears before entering the water<\/strong><br \/>\n&quot;Pre-pressure boost&quot; helps to immerse yourself in the first meters when the diver is venting the BCD and blowing the mask. It can also &quot;move&quot; the ear <strong>Eustachian channels<\/strong>, so it &#039;s a little bigger. Lower your legs first<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"tlid-results-container results-container\">\n<div class=\"tlid-result result-dict-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"result tlid-copy-target\">\n<div class=\"text-wrap tlid-copy-target\">\n<div class=\"result-shield-container tlid-copy-target\" tabindex=\"0\"><span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"lv\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">The air tends to rise up over the ear <strong>Eustachian channel<\/strong>, and liquid - like mucus tends to drain downwards.<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">Studies show that <strong>Valsalva technique <\/strong>(eng,<em>Valsalva maneuver;<\/em> ear pressure equalization with nasal compression) requires 50% more force when you are head down than up.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><b>5. Look up, stretching your neck<\/b><br \/>\nExtending the neck also opens the ear canals.<\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><strong>6. Use a landing rope<\/strong><\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\">By sticking to the anchor or mooring rope, you can control your descent speed more precisely. Without a rope, your descent speed will probably accelerate much more than you realize. The descent rope also helps to quickly stop the descent if you feel a lot of pressure before it is possible <strong>ausu\u00a0<\/strong><b>baro trauma<\/b>.<\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\">\n<div class=\"tlid-input input\">\n<div class=\"source-wrap\">\n<div class=\"input-full-height-wrapper tlid-input-full-height-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"source-input\">\n<div class=\"source-footer-wrap source-or-target-footer\">\n<div class=\"character-count tlid-character-count\"><strong>7. Stop diving if it hurts<\/strong><br \/>\nDo not try to suffer from ear pain. Yours <span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"lv\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\"><strong>Eustachian channels<\/strong><\/span><\/span>may be blocked by a pressure difference. If your ears start to hurt, lift up one meter and try to level again.<\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><strong>9. Avoid tobacco and alcohol<\/strong><br \/>\nBoth tobacco smoke and alcohol irritate your mucous membranes, promoting more mucus that can clog your mucous membranes. <b><i>ear canals.<\/i><\/b><\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><\/div>\n<div tabindex=\"0\"><strong>10. For many, it is difficult at first to start practicing ear pressure equalization, the process is easier. Ear leveling is a scuba skill that you can practice anywhere.
