In technical diving, the word \u201cimpossible\u201d usually just means that you need the right equipment and a precise plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Recently, with teammate Jack (<strong>@jacquesbernard_<\/strong>) we went to Malta&#039;s sister island of Gozo to realize an ambitious idea \u2013 \u201cWreck Safari\u201d. Using\u00a0<strong>JJ CCR<\/strong>\u00a0(Closed Circuit Rebreather) technology and powerful\u00a0<strong>DPV<\/strong>\u00a0(underwater scooters), we turned a normal technical dive into an epic underwater raid through time. But with rebreathers and scooters, our radius expands exponentially. Our goal was clear: connect four points in one \u201cline,\u201d maximizing gas efficiency and battery capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_Pietura_Fastus_%E2%80%93_Starts_ekspedicijai\"><\/span>1. Stop: Fastus \u2013 Start of the expedition<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our first wreck tour started at&nbsp;<strong>Fastus<\/strong>. It served as the perfect starting point to check out the equipment and get into a rhythm. The blue Mediterranean water and excellent visibility made it immediately clear that this was going to be a special day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Pietura_Kaminolanda_%E2%80%93_Ielukojoties_dziluma\"><\/span>2nd Stop: Kaminoland \u2013 Looking into the Depths<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next in line was&nbsp;<strong>Caminoland<\/strong>. Here we did not limit ourselves to just looking from the outside. We made a full penetration, exploring the internal structures of the ship. The silence of the rebreathers allows you to fully enjoy the atmosphere of the wreck, without hearing the noise of its bubbles \u2013 only the presence of metal and history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_Pietura_Karvella_%E2%80%93_Fotografu_sapnis\"><\/span>3rd Stop: Karvella \u2013 A Photographer&#039;s Dream<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No visit to Gozo is complete without&nbsp;<strong>Carvell<\/strong>&nbsp;This ship is famous for its iconic wooden staircase, which looks like it was created for surreal underwater photography. The scooters allowed us to glide elegantly through the decks, saving our energy for what came next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_Pietura_Xlendi_%E2%80%93_Apgaztais_milzis\"><\/span>4th Stop: Xlendi \u2013 The Fallen Giant<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Finally, we reached&nbsp;<strong>Xlendi<\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 a massive car ferry lying upside down. Its size is impressive, and navigating around its enormous hull requires attention. This was the furthest point on our route before we started thinking about the way home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Atpakalcels_un_dekompresija\"><\/span>Return and decompression<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to our gas reserves and time still being on our side, we decided to do a little \u201cbonus lap.\u201d We returned to&nbsp;<em>Carvell<\/em>&nbsp;again to capture the famous stairs one last time before heading to the reef to begin the ascent phase and decompression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Diving with&nbsp;<strong>JJ CCR<\/strong>&nbsp;provides an immeasurable sense of security and time reserve, while&nbsp;<strong>DPV<\/strong>&nbsp;makes such \u201cmarathons\u201d physically easy and exciting.
